How are Murphy Nest wall beds shipped and delivered? Orders are shipped via specialized freight carriers to ensure safe transport. Wall bed frames, cabinets, and desk/sofa accessories arrive flat-packed in multiple protective boxes designed to fit through standard doorways and hallways.
Do you offer room-of-choice or white-glove assembly services? Yes! We offer upgraded White-Glove Delivery at checkout for select zip codes, which includes room placement, complete assembly by trained technicians, and full packaging removal.
How long will it take for my bed to arrive? In-stock orders ship from our warehouse within 3 to 5 business days, with transit times averaging 5 to 10 business days depending on your location. Custom wood finishes and made-to-order cabinet configurations carry a lead time of 3 to 6 weeks.
What should I do if my shipment arrives with visible box damage? Inspect all outer boxes before signing for delivery. Note any visible punctures, crushing, or tears directly on the carrier’s Delivery Receipt, and contact our support team immediately so we can handle replacement parts or panels without delay.
Installation, Framing & Safety
Is wall mounting strictly required for all Murphy Nest beds? Yes. To guarantee structural safety and prevent tipping, all vertical and horizontal Murphy beds must be anchored securely to solid wall studs (wood or metal) or concrete/masonry walls.
Can I mount a Murphy bed directly into drywall or baseboards? No. Never anchor a wall bed into drywall, plaster, or hollow anchors alone. Your installation must secure into solid structural framing. Baseboards may need to be notched or trimmed depending on the specific cabinet flush-fit design.
What is the difference between piston and spring lifting mechanisms? Piston (gas strut) mechanisms use pressurized gas to provide smooth, silent, and virtually effortless operation without needing re-tensioning over time. Spring mechanisms rely on high-grade steel coil counterweights, allowing customizable tension adjustments based on mattress weight.
Can one person open and close the bed safely? Absolutely. Both our piston and spring lifting systems are counterbalanced so that a single person can raise or lower the bed using just one hand once unlocked.
Mattress Compatibility & Space Planning
Do I need a special mattress, or can I use my existing one? You can use most standard inner-spring, hybrid, or memory foam mattresses up to 12 inches thick (or the maximum depth specified for your exact model). Box springs are not required, as the bed frame includes built-in slatted support.
Can I leave the bed made with pillows and blankets when folded up? Yes. Every Murphy Nest bed includes elastic heavy-duty mattress straps to hold your sheets, blankets, and low-profile pillows securely in place while the unit is folded away.
How much ceiling clearance and floor space do I need? Vertical models require higher ceilings (typically 86–90 inches minimum) and project further into the room when open. Horizontal (side-fold) models require lower ceiling clearance (72–78 inches) and are ideal for narrow rooms, attics, or basements with lower overhead clearance.
Returns, Warranties & Customer Care
What is your standard return and trial policy? We offer a 30-day return window for unopened, uninstalled items, along with a 100-night trial on all mattresses. Installed, modified, or anchored wall beds are not eligible for standard returns due to safety considerations.
What warranty coverage comes with my purchase? All Murphy Nest hardware, bed frames, and lifting mechanisms are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against mechanical defects. Cabinetry and wood finishes are covered under a 5-year warranty against structural flaws.
